These initiatives reflect our commitment to making a lasting impact in the fight against bowel cancer. Together, we are helping pave the way for earlier diagnoses, better treatment options, and greater support for patients, especially those in regional areas.
Thank you to everyone who joined us in honouring this cause and making a difference in the lives of those affected.
How Your Support Impacts
Bowel Cancer Australia
Awareness campaigns that challenge perceptions and champion what matters most to those affected by bowel cancer. Bowel Cancer Australia has been consistently recognised for its meaningful and impactful contributions to the third sector, delivering measurable benefits. Further to this, the organisation has created multiple award-winning awareness campaigns driving real behavioural change.
Support for patients and their loved ones that build communities and create a powerful voice for change. Bowel Cancer Australia’s telehealth Bowel Care Nurses, Nutritionists, and Oncology Social Workers are a ‘lifeline’ for patients. Platforms like The Bottom Line Podcast, The Movement nurse-moderated Facebook Group, Meaningful Movement programs and Peer-to-Peer Support Network offer practical and emotional support to the growing number of people impacted.
Research has seen the establishment of the Lawrence Penn Chair of Bowel Cancer Research in perpetuity, whose research team is dedicated to cutting edge bowel cancer discoveries. In addition, the charity continues to fund the best and brightest scientists dedicated to early-onset bowel cancer research that has the potential to improve survival and help build a path toward a cure.
Since 2014, Bowel Cancer Australia has advocated for early-onset bowel cancer, aiming to improve care and outcomes for younger people. Each June, their Call On Canberra event unites 50 advocates at Parliament House to push for crucial policy changes. In 2023, their six-year campaign to lower the screening age from 50 to 40 reached a milestone, leading the Australian Government to reduce it to 45 in 2024.
At FDC, we have been in business for over three decades. And while we’ve certainly grown, we’ve never lost sight of what matters most. People.
We’re continually inspired by our relationships, partnerships and collaborations. We’re a family business, powered by connection, working together for a better world. We pledge to help numerous causes that have made a personal impact to our people, families, partners or clients.
To us, giving back to the wider community is not only our corporate social responsibility, but a hugely satisfying pursuit that has a positive impact on our employees and beyond. From fundraising events to sponsorships, we’re dedicated to leaving a legacy we can all be proud of.
Acknowledgement Of Country
In the spirit of reconciliation, we acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of country throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea and community. We pay our respects to their elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
